Since summer 2005, the Endian firewall is available as Free Software, which implies that there is a large community of developers taking care of the various components. The same community performed 87,000 downloads in the last 12 months. In July 2005, the Endian firewall was nominated project of the week by Open Source portal OSDir.com. In January 2006, the Endian firewall was the only one meeting all the criteria of the Unified-Threat-Management solution test in Internet Professionell, and the specialized magazine c’t, i.e. the IT Bible in a certain sense, praised the Endian firewall and defined it as an “«interesting comprehensive package» (issue 21/2006). All this should suffice as best tip and make Endian founder Raphael Vallazza confident: «Harvest time has come!». Projections of a more than fruitful harvest are based on 1,300 web visitors daily and 87,000 downloads in the last year. Notwithstanding this, Endian’s developers are motivated by humbleness, glory and honour only, surely not by profit and wealth. This is true for Raphael Vallazza as well.
Best tip: «Being enthusiastic and enjoying our work, free exchange and human relationships with clients and resellers… that is what counts for us. Obviously, team work and creativity also play a fundamental role. For this reason, we even go on holidays together. From our last boat trip, for example, we got home with a new solution for wideband management».
